Mad Jack

Mad Jack - an aussie restaurant along Bukit Timah Road, just after Serene Centre. The signboard is eye-catching, with its pictures and bright colors. It certainly caught my attention when I alighted from the bus.

The images of fish and chips, burgers and steaks are tantalizing. There are not that many places which serve good fish and chips at a "cheap" price. We decided to give the place a try. To assauge the guilt of having a deep fried fish and chips, I ordered a juice for weightloss (try to argue with a woman's logic ;p ). The drink was tasteless though it was made of tomato, cucumber and carrot juices.

The fish and chips were fabulous. The fish was pretty fresh and the batter was crunchy though I felt it was a bit too thick. The veggies had canned peaches on it, which was not what I was used to, but it gave a sweetness to the raw vegs. Now, the fries were the highlight. They were warm and crispy and tasty with the spices sprinkled on them. I would go back just for the fries.

A friend ordered the lamb chop in brown sauce. The lamb was tender and the sauce went well with it. The mash potatoes were run of the mill and the gravy was just a tad too salty with it.
