I used to like Island Cafe over at Tangs Orchard, but with the number of new cafes sprouting up in the Orchard belt, it got relegated to second place. Plus, the last few visits were met with dismal food - it was not as good for some dishes.
Anyway we were hungry and wondering what to eat when we decided to just go to Island Cafe since I wanted something simple and with no queue. We shared the grilled taupoks which were not too bad. The taupoks and yew char kway (fried stick fritters) were warm and crispy. The century egg gave a bit of flavor to the dish and those who love hae kor (prawn paste) would like this dish as it had a very strong distinct taste of it in the sauce. It was a bit too overpowering for me.
