Bugis area really has so many good food and many coffee shops around serving local food. I finally found a place selling pretty decent fish meat bee hoon in the area. I have been missing the Novena fish meat bee hoon near Goldhill Centre, so this is a welcome discovery.Apparently Xin Yuan Ji has been around for many many years. It was originally from somewhere (I forgot the place) and then moved to Bukit Merah before moving back to Bugis area at Tan Quee Lan Street (across from Bugis Junction, where the DHL Balloon is).
The fish meat bee hoon ($4.80) is really good. Milky tasty soup with huge chunk of fish meat and veggies. I ordered the mixed fish (fried and fresh) bee hoon soup before and that was a huge portion. Lots of fish for only $6.80.
Xin Yuan Ji also sells chicken rice, hor fun and other zi char type of dishes, besides the signature fish meat soup. This is the place for me to go when I want something soupy for lunch. Expect a crowd during the typical lunch hour.

The service really is really bad and I meant it is really bad. You all decide whether it is acceptable?
1) All the tables were empty and we went to the corner table next to the Cashier.
2) The waiter rudely told to sit next table. When asked he shouted it was meant for them to “keep” their things? The table is a dining table with no reservation sign at all.
3) Next came another waitress he told us to move to the opposite corner tables claiming it cooler there. I am really mad and told her that you all keep on telling your customers to change tables.
4) I realises the real reason is they are trying not to switch on the aircon on this side. The opposite side tables are warmer as it is next to the sliding entrance door.
5) The rude waiter now puts a packet of chilly on the corner table top.
6) At 12 noon , they remove that packet chilly at the corner table even though it is not full sitting capacity yet.
7) A group of persons sat on that corner table but no waiter/waitresses chase them away ????
8) Really bad bad experience to start with.
9) Taken pictures of the corner table with the packet of chilly and later with customers.
